Simple by design

How renting out your gear works

From your couch to your first payout in three steps.

1

List it free

Snap a few photos, set your price and availability. Listing is always free — you only pay when you earn. Not sure what to charge? See pricing tips.

2

Approve & get paid

You approve every request before it’s booked, and renters pay in-app through Stripe before pickup — and your payout is initiated as soon as the item is picked up, arriving in your bank within 2–3 business days via Stripe. See payout timing.

3

Return & review

When the rental ends, the renter returns your item. A geo-tagged, time-stamped photo at pickup and return keeps its condition on record — then you both leave a review.

Protecting your assets is our #1 priority

You stay in control. We’ve got the risk.

The biggest reason people don’t lend their gear is fear of damage or strangers. We engineered that fear out.

Questions, answered

Lender FAQ

The essentials. For everything else, visit the Help Center or the full FAQ.

How much does it cost, and how much do I keep?
Listing is free. Next-Door Rental charges a 12% service fee on the rental — covering advertising, scheduling, monitoring, and platform maintenance — plus standard payment processing of about 6%. After both, you keep roughly 80% of every booking, with no hidden fees. See full fee details.
How and when do I get paid?
You’re paid through a secure Stripe Express account that you set up when you add your bank. Your payout is initiated as soon as your product is picked up and typically takes 2–3 business days to arrive. You can track every payout in your Stripe Express dashboard.
What if my item gets damaged?
Every renter pays through Stripe before pickup. If your item is damaged, any security deposit you’ve set — held by NDR — is the first line of defense, applied to the cost first. Anything beyond it is covered by our Property Protection Plan, up to $10,000, through an incident report. Read the No-Loophole Guarantee.
How much should I charge?
You set your own price — your item, your rules. Listed prices act as a benchmark for negotiation. Our blog has our earning guides to help you land on the right number.
Can I control when items are available?
Yes. Set your available pickup/return hours and block out days you’re unavailable. Renters can only book within the windows you choose, and you approve every request.
